Philly.com Logo

My experience with Philadelphia goes about as far as I95, the Philadelphia airport, and what I saw on Boy Meets World. Ok, I also have fond memories of watching the 1993 World Series at a friend’s house because my parents had decided to go without tv for a few years. I think you get the point; I’m not much of a resource when it comes to Philadelphia, but Philly.com is. That’s why they get over a million pageviews every day, which makes them the #1 website for the region.

The City of Internshiply Love

Philly.com is a major media outlet in its own right, but its also has close ties to the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News. There’s a lot of shared content, and likely a lot of interaction (overlap?) between employees too. Philly.com is looking for Fall interns. Whether you know Philadelphia like the back of your hand because you grew up there or you’ve only lived in Philly for a couple years as a student, Philly.com would love to have you work for them this Fall. We found out about the internships from Yoni Greenbaum, Executive Producer at Philly.com, in a blog post on the Wired Journalists Ning site

He said:

Are you in the Philadelphia region and looking for a great internship opportunity for the Fall? If so, let me suggest philly.com where we’ve got a bunch of openings (including some paid!).

At Philly.com you won’t be opening mail or answering phones. Our interns get trained to step into every roll from video production to homepage management. Current interns are helping to build special pages and micro-sites, produce video shows, manage the homepage and are actually having fun. If you want a different type of internship and think you have the right skills/perspective then drop me a line.

We tried to find out more by going to Philly.com’s Join Our Team page, but it’s kind of a train wreck. There’s no information about internships, and navigation is confusing (even if you’re looking for a full time job). The Join Our Team link is all the way at the bottom of the Philly.com home page, and it’s hard to find when you’re looking for a “Jobs” or “Careers” page. It seems like Philly.com directs all the “Job” keyword love to their Job Board for regional employers instead. Anyway, Yoni said to contact him directly, so we recommend that you reach out to him via Twitter, LinkedIn, or his blog instead of trying to seek out more information about the internships online.
